Role Overview – Operations Specialist

You will be the architect of a dynamic operational framework, shaping the future and propelling sustainable growth in all our 4 markets across Africa. As a strategic leader, you will optimize resources, lead cross-functional projects, leverage data for informed decisions, and build high-performing teams. Your expertise in stakeholder management, digital transformation, and performance improvement will be instrumental in achieving operational excellence.

In this critical leadership role, you will be responsible for:

  • Strategic Operations Leadership:
  • Design, implement, and continuously refine operational processes across all FIA departments.
  • You will foster a culture of collaboration, ownership and ensure alignment with the company’s strategic objectives, developing a comprehensive roadmap for operational excellence.
  • Resource Optimization: Become a master of resource optimization, allocating and optimizing resources including personnel, equipment, budget, technology, and agricultural assets to maximize efficiency and achieve organizational goals. This includes identifying cost-saving opportunities and implementing strategies for sustainable resource management.
  • Project Management: Lead and manage key cross-functional projects, ensuring timely completion, adherence to budget constraints, and successful outcomes. Your strong project management skills will be essential in driving strategic initiatives forward.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Champion the development and implementation of a comprehensive system for data collection and analysis. Leverage data insights to inform strategic decision-making, resource allocation, and performance improvement across all departments.
  • Building High-Performing Teams: Play a key role in creating a thriving and motivated work environment. You’ll be responsible for talent acquisition, training, and development across all departments, fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, operational excellence, and ownership.
  • Stakeholder Management: Evolve into a master of stakeholder management, establishing and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, distributors, partners, and government entities. This includes fostering smooth collaboration and optimizing the supply chain for enhanced efficiency and mutual benefit.
  • Digital Transformation: Identify and spearhead the integration of innovative technologies to improve operational efficiency, enhance data management, streamline communication across the organization, and drive strategic initiatives for growth.
  • Performance Measurement & Improvement: Design and implement a system for establishing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) for all departments. Develop a culture of continuous improvement by analyzing performance data, identifying areas for optimization, and implementing effective strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

9. Growth & Expansion Strategist: As a dynamic startup, Farming In Africa (FIA) is poised for significant growth. In this critical role, you will be the architect of our expansion strategy, identifying new market opportunities within and beyond Ghana. To foster a culture of initiative building, spearheading internal and external initiatives to drive strategic expansion and solidify FIA’s position as a leading player in the African livestock farming industry. Your leadership will be instrumental in propelling FIA to the forefront of the agricultural revolution across the continent.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in senior operations management roles within the agricultural sector or a related industry.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and optimizing operations in a dynamic and growth-oriented environment. A demonstrable history of achieving significant growth and improved performance through operational excellence initiatives is essential.
  • Strong understanding of business strategy, financial management, risk assessment, and the agricultural landscape within Africa.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills with the ability to motivate, inspire, build strong relationships at all levels, and influence stakeholders effectively.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in project management methodologies, data analysis tools, and operational management software.
  • Strategic thinking with a focus on innovation, continuous improvement, and long-term vision.
  • A passion for agriculture and a strong understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing the African agricultural sector.
  • A genuine commitment to FIA’s mission and vision for “farming into the future,” a desire to contribute to positive change in African agriculture, and a dedication to building a sustainable and thriving organization.
