I have often wondered, why won’t identical twins have same intelligence levels? Since they share almost everything else?
Is intelligence inherited from birth? I don’t think so. Intelligence is built via reading and learning and the levels varies on how this 2 factor play out
Well, to my own understanding of this thing, every genetic trait is carried on an allele(a pair of genes) and these genes combine indepently of each meaning that; the inheritance of the same physical features does not mean the inheritance of the same cognitive features. The genes that combined to form their identical face is different from the one that combines to form their cognitive and nervous systems. That’s why we can find identical twins who do not behave exactly same way even though they have grown up the same way and at the same place
Well even though they have identical genetic appearance that doesn’t mean they inherited the same level of intelligence from their parents. The basic influence of this is because of genetic variation (even though they are twins they can’t acquire the complete sets of the Same gebe from their parents) and their is environmental factor in play too.
This is a question that many people have asked again and again over the ages and generations. Identical twins have remained a subject of awe and amazement.
We have a very detailed article here that will give you the full gist, why identical twins do not share identical intelligence levels.
